The Travel Business Truth: My Experience with Book1trip's Earning Promise

The dream of financial independence through a home-based business is powerful. When I saw advertisements for Book1trip promising potential earnings of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh per month,
I was immediately drawn in. The idea of launching my own travel agency with their support seemed like the perfect opportunity. This post is a detailed account of my personal journey with Book1trip, from the initial webinar to the reality of using their platform. I am writing this to share my perspective and help others who might be considering a similar path. The Promise vs. The Price TagThe journey began with a "Travel Business Launch Webinar." It was professionally presented, outlining a future where I could earn substantial commissions from a wide range of services—flights, hotels, trains, and more. To unlock this potential, I was required to purchase a package for ₹9,000. I viewed this as an investment in my new business venture. However, looking back, I question the value I received for that investment. The "Instant Commission" Chart: A Closer LookA key selling point was the commission structure. We were shown a chart detailing the potential earnings on each booking. Here is the commission chart that was presented:Service On the surface, these numbers look attractive. A 30% margin on hotels or a flat ₹200 on flights seems like a clear path to profit. However, my personal experience trying to realize these commissions told a different story. The critical issue I encountered was with the base prices on the Book1trip B2B portal. When I compared the flight and hotel prices to what a regular customer can find on sites like MakeMyTrip or Yatra, I found little to no difference. In some cases, the prices on the B2B portal were even slightly higher. This raises a fundamental question: If the base price is not lower than the market rate, where does the "commission" come from? Is the commission simply built into an already inflated price? If so, it becomes nearly impossible to offer competitive rates to clients and still earn the advertised margin. For me, the promised commission felt like an illusion because the underlying pricing model didn't seem to provide a real competitive advantage. The Restrictive Wallet SystemAnother significant point of concern for me was the wallet system. To make any bookings, I had to first load money from my bank account into the Book1trip wallet. I later learned that this money, once deposited, could not be withdrawn. My funds were essentially locked within their platform. This one-way-street financial system felt incredibly restrictive and added a layer of risk I was not comfortable with. The Search for Independent ReviewsIn an age of transparency, customer reviews are vital. I tried to find a Google Business profile for Book1trip to read about the experiences of other agents. I could not locate one. The absence of a public-facing, independent review platform makes it difficult for prospective agents to perform due diligence. It left me wondering why a company would not want to have a space for public feedback.Final Thoughts: A Call for Due DiligenceMy experience with Book1trip did not align with the expectations set by their marketing. The gap between the promised earnings and the practical reality of the platform's pricing was, in my opinion, immense. This post is my review, based on my personal journey. I am sharing it to encourage anyone looking at this or similar "travel business" opportunities to dig deeper. Ask tough questions before you invest your time and money: 1.Request a live price comparison: Ask them to show you, in real-time, how their B2B rates for specific flights and hotels compare against major public travel sites. 2.Clarify the commission structure: How is the commission calculated? Is it a true discount on the market rate, or is it a slice of an already marked-up price? 3.Understand the wallet's terms: Ask for the terms and conditions regarding the wallet in writing. Is it possible to get a refund of your unused wallet balance? 4.Question the lack of public reviews: Ask why they don't maintain a public Google Business or Trustpilot profile for transparent feedback.Starting a business is a commendable goal, but it requires a foundation of trust and transparency. I hope my story helps you make a more informed and cautious decision.Disclaimer: This blog post reflects the author's personal opinions and experiences with Book1trip. 1. Hi. Thanks for your review. I hope more such experiences are shared. The charges appear low compared to some other B2B operators. However, the red flag for me was the no response when I called the few phone numbers that I came across on their WhatsApp group and FB ads. If I send a message, they replied after hours. Also, its very difficult to get them to show a demo anytime other than the webinar. I would rather spend on learning GDS and use that to give discounts.
